New classes are starting up at Roots!
For the next serveral Friday nights, the evening teaching will be focused on identifying lashon hara – evil speech, and how to eliminate it from our words and actions.
The weekly pre-lunch Shabbat teaching will focus on the weekly parasha.
We are starting a new HaYesod class beginning 6/13 during the afternoon Shabbat class from 2:30pm-6:00pm. Preregistration and 2″ binder are required for the class as materials, and they will be provided each week. Preregistration, textbook and workbook are required for the class.
The class outline will be similar as before, however we will be doing a more in depth development of foundations of biblical interpretation and rules for biblical interpretation as taught and derived from the Torah. To accommodate this, Galatians will not be included in the outline. We will attempt to finish this class before Rosh HaShonnah, 9/12. Materials cost will be $50.00 per set.
Beginning 6/14 on Sunday evening 6:30 – 8:00pm we will begin intro to Biblical Hebrew. We hope to break the class down into 3 – 13 week sections. (6/14-9/13 with no class on 7/05) A knowledge of the Aleph Bet in block and script is encouraged before the class begins. Required Books: Invitation to Biblical Hebrew textbook and workbook, Russell T. Fuller and Kyoungwon Choi. Amazon.com cost about 22.41 and 9.97 + S&H. Copies of first chapter or so will be available for those who cannot get the book in time for the first week or so by request only. Optional: Video is optional for individual purchase.
